I go here all the time. I've never had a bad meal breakfast, lunch or dinner Service is great. Prime Rib is excellent, great fish fry, steaks and salads. Old timey supper club decor.
Hard to be fair with my rating as I was here with a large party after a wake. However the martini with blue cheese olives was good, salad alright with blue cheese and a beet, filet oscar with bernaise sauce was decent, and the beer was good. So overall the place would be a 3 star normally for me, but I suspect it would rate a 4 star under more "normal" circumstances as it has a charming rustic diner ambience with fine dining attached in a further charming Rhinelander location! The bar there is great and I hope to get a chance to visit the diner during brunch hours. Overall would highly recommend and suggest the duck, beer battered jumbo shrimp, French onion soup, and all the drinks you can as I witnessed, but did not taste these pleasantly looking options! Excellent. Amazing selection on their menu. If you want comfort food or something healthy you'll be happy. They have good vegetarian and kid options as well. The place is pretty cozy, with a northern feel. It's a little drastic going into the dark restaurant though from outside but overall I was very impressed with this place.
Solid fare. Reasonable value. Dark if nice and quaint decor. This place has been around for 100+ years and with good reason. Salad would be better with more vegetables and different greens. Dressing was homemade and good, if a bit thick. Fried food was all perfectly done and not over done. Pub sandwich was tasty and the auju was good. Not overly salty. One of the best places in Rhinelander. We come here most years when we vacation in the north woods.
Staff and food are fantastic. My wife and I are in town for a wedding and are very glad we found this gem. Thank you Kristy for great customer service and recommendations!
